1 Injured in 3-Car Accident

At 3:00 PM on Friday, October 5th, the New Hartford Police were called to a three-car motor vehicle accident on State Route 840 near State Route 5.  According to Patrolman J. M. Spinella, Emma C. Walker, age 21, of West Winfield was east bound on State Route 840 when several vehicles stopped suddenly in front of her due to another accident that was causing traffic congestion.  Walker’s vehicle then struck the rear end of a vehicle driven by Crispino Velardi, age 18, of Marcy, which was stopped in traffic on State Route 840.  The impact of the collision caused Velardi’s vehicle to go forward and strike the rear of another vehicle driven by Ronald J. Scaglione, age 55, of Marcy.

The New York Mills Fire Department and Kunkel Ambulance treated Velardi and Velardi was transported to St. Luke’s Hospital for evaluation for neck pain.  None of the other parties involved in the MVA were complaining of any pain. 

Walker was issued a summons for following too closely and is to appear in court at a later date.  Traffic on State Route 840 was backed up for about 1 hour while crews cleaned up the scene.
