October 5th, 2007

2 INJURED IN MOTORCYCLE ACCIDENT

At 2:37 PM on October 5th, 2007 the New Hartford Police were called to a motorcycle accident on State Route 840 at the Route 12 South on Ramp.  According to police the motorcycle was being operated by a 63 year old male from New Jersey with a 42 year old female as his passenger.  The operator lost control of the motorcycle while attempting to merge onto the ramp causing the bike to slide and ejected both riders.  Both parties were transported to St. Elizabeths Hospital for treatment.  The driver sustained minor injuries but the passenger is in serious condition with a head injury. 

Traffic on Route 840 was backed up for about an hour and a half until the scene was cleared.  The accident is still under investigation and further details including identification of the operators will be released later pending notification of family members.
