to consolidate with Oneida County 911 Center Oct. 1, 2010
The New Hartford Central Dispatch center will cease operations after September 30, 2010 after serving the residents of New Hartford for the past 19 years. In addition to answering 911 calls, Central Dispatch answered all 7-digit emergency calls for Fire & Police as well as business calls for the various departments in the Town of New Hartford to include, Police & Fire, Animal Control, Highway, Parks & Recreation and so on.
Considerable time and effort has gone into making the transition to the Oneida County 911 Center as smooth as possible. The residents should not see any difference in how a 911 call is handled or in the response time of the emergency responders.
The New Hartford Police Department emergency number, 733-6666, will be answered by the Oneida County 911 center and the call will be dispatched appropriately. The business number, 724-7111, will be answered by department staff during regular business hours. During non-business hours, this number will be answered by the Oneida County 911 center and every effort will be made to assist the caller in the prompt and efficient handling of their request.
The Animal Control Department will be dispatched by the Oneida County 911 center. If an Animal Control Officer is not on duty, a Police Officer may respond to take the initial complaint and then refer the complaint to the Animal Control Department for appropriate follow-up.
The Oneida County 911 Center should not be contacted for routine business calls to the various departments within the Town of New Hartford. Instead, residents are encouraged to call the seven-digit phone number (see list below) of the department that is needed during business hours to speak with an employee of that department.
