2 INJURED IN MVA ON ROUTE 5

On 02/14/07 at 6:22 PM the New Hartford Police investigated a 2 car motor vehicle accident on State Route 5 at the entrance to Applewood Community.  According to Patrolman Matthew Sica, Stephanie Johns, 22 of Dolgeville was east bound on Route 5 when a pickup truck was inching out of Cherrywood Community to see past the snow banks.  Johns saw the pickup truck and struck her brakes causing her vehicle to loose control and enter the westbound lane.  John’s vehicle was then struck head on by a vehicle driven by Leo Sullivan, 48 of Clinton.

Johns was transported to St. Elizabeths Hospital by Central Oneida County Ambulance for a possible head injury.  A passenger in Sullivan’s vehicle, Christine Sullivan was also transported to St. Elizabeths Hospital complaining of chest pain.  Route 5 was restricted to one lane for just over an hour due to the position of the vehicles and the blowing and drifting snow.  

No tickets have been issued at this time and the accident is still under investigation.
