2 INJURED IN A 4 CAR ACCIDENT

On02/08/07 at about 5:00 PM the New Hartford Police investigated a 4 car Motor Vehicle Accident on State Route 5 in front of the Yahnundasis Golf Course.  According to Patrolman Matthew Sica, James O. Duff 22, of New Hartford was traveling west bound on Route 5 and did not see a vehicle operated by Alan J. Lyon 26, of Dolgeville stopped at the traffic light in front of him. Duff’s vehicle then struck Lyon’s vehicle in the rear end.  The impact caused Duff’s vehicle to then strike a guardrail.  Lyon’s vehicle then traveled forward striking a third vehicle driven by Ann E. Tracey 37, of New Hartford that  was also stopped at the traffic light.  That collision caused Tracey’s vehicle to travel forward and strike a fourth vehicle driven by Nancy L. Irizarry 40, of Utica.

Irizarry and her passenger Katelynn Irizarry 18, were treated at the scene by New Hartford Fire Department and transported to St. Elizabeths Hospital for treatment of minor injuries.  Traffic on Rt. 5 was backed up for about 45 minutes while the scene was cleared up.

Duff was issued a summons for following to closely and is to appear in the own of New Hartford Court at a later date.
