Observer Dispatch Carrier Allegedly Accosted While Delivering Morning Route

According to the New Hartford Police Department,  a newspaper carrier from the Observer Dispatch reported being accosted by one of her customers while delivering papers early Wednesday morning.

While delivering the morning newspaper in the Tamarack Drive area of New Hartford this morning, a seventeen year old female delivery person contacted the New Hartford Police Department to report that she had been accosted by a male while delivering the paper to the man’s residence.   The female delivery person reported that at approximately 6:20 AM this morning, 71 year old Lawrence Burns of 43 Tamarack Drive forcible kissed her on the lips and touched her body in an inappropriate manner when the female approached Burns on the doorstep of his residence.  Following an investigation, Burns was arrested for one count of Forcible Touching, a Class A Misdemeanor and one count of Harassment in the Second Degree, a violation.  Burns was arraigned in the Town of New Hartford Court and released on his own recognizance.  Burns is to appear in the Town of New Hartford Court at a later date.
