Convictect Robbery/Homicide Suspect John Healy's True Identity Confirmed

Members of the New Hartford Police Department and the Oneida County District Attorney’s Office today released the real identity of the subject tried and convicted in the murder of New Hartford Police Officer Joseph D. Corr, and the robbery of Lennon’s – W.B. Wilcox Jewelry Store on February 27, 2006.

Authorities identified Toussaint Davis, Age 38 of Philadelphia as the individual who stole John T. Healy’s identity.  According to New Hartford Police Department Investigator Richard Salamone, Davis was identified after several weeks of investigation in the Philadelphia, PA area.  Salamone and investigator Dave Nowakowski tracked Davis’ identity by visiting relatives, accessing hospital and social service records, and working closely with the Social Security Administration, and the Pennsylvania Inspector General’s Office.

Salamone indicated that at the time of Davis’ arrest on the evening of February 27, 2006, a fingerprint check indicated he had used 24 different aliases in his different contacts with the criminal justice system.  “What is difficult is to find a person’s birth name, especially one born in the 1960’s where record keeping was either not required, or not as thorough as today”, according to Salamone.

When Davis was arrested on February 27, 2007 and arraigned in New Hartford Town Court, police used the name John T. Healy, Et. al, as an indication of “all others”, referring to his many aliases.

Prosecutors from the Oneida County District Attorney’s Office will be filing the appropriate paperwork to officially show that Davis is the tried and convicted perpetrator and not John T. Healy.

Salamone met with the real John T. Healy in Yardley, PA on March 14, 2007 to update him on the investigation, and to fingerprint him to prove officially that he is not the person in custody in Oneida County.
