Woman Suffers Serious Injuries in New Hartford Accident

 

A Clark Mills woman was transferred to University Hospital in Syracuse after suffering serious injuries in a two-car motor vehicle accident on Rt. 840 Wednesday evening.

 

Officer Christopher J. Burns reports that at 11:56 PM Wednesday night, a vehicle driven by Carlos Castro, age 39, of Sauquoit was southbound on Rt. 840 when a second vehicle driven by Carley Hunter, age 23, of Clark Mills, attempted to make a U-turn from the northbound lane in to the southbound lane of Rt. 840.  Hunter did not see the Castro vehicle and Castro struck the passenger’s side of Hunter’s vehicle.  The front seat passenger in Hunter’s vehicle, Brioni Stockbridge, age 23, also of Clark Mills, suffered serious injuries to her right side consisting of fractured ribs, a fractured pelvis and a collapsed lung.  Stockbridge was treated at St. Elizabeth’s Hospital before being transferred to University Hospital in Syracuse for further treatment.  Hunter was transported to St. Elizabeth’s for treatment of a a hand laceration and Castro was transported to St. Elizabeth’s for a complaint of leg pain.

 

Hunter was issued summonses for Driving While Intoxicated, a Misdemeanor, as well as violations of an Improper U-Turn and Operating an Unregistered Motor Vehicle.  Hunter will answer these charges at a later date in the Town of New Hartford Court.

The New Hartford Police Department was assisted at the scene by members of the Oneida County Sheriff’s Office, Edward’s Ambulance and Central Oneida County Amblance.
