One Injured Following Rt. 5A Accident

New Hartford Police responded to a two-car motor vehicle accident on Rt. 5A that left one person injured.  According to Patrolman Jarod Petrie, Virginia Scott, 65, of Utica, was operating her vehicle east on Rt. 5A.  As Scott approached the Rt. 840 overpass, she stated that she did not see the traffic stopped at the traffic signal ahead of her and struck the rear of a vehicle that was being operated by Tina Goracy, 43, of Utica. 

Scott was transported to St. Luke’s Hospital with a complaint of chest pain while Goracy was not injured.  Police issued Scott a summons for following to closely.  New Hartford Police were assisted on the scene by the New Hartford Fire Department and Edward’s Ambulance.
