    In conjunction with the Buckle Up New York (BUNY) initiative a seat belt check point was conducted on Rt 12B at the New Hartford / Kirkland town line. Police Officers from New Hartford PD, Kirkland PD, the State Police and Oneida County Sheriffs Department participated in the checkpoint. Sgt. Paul Colburn states Twenty-one seat belt tickets were written and a total of Seventy-one traffic tickets were issued. The initiative will continue through the holidays and road checks and extra patrols will be used to enforce the law.
