UTICA MAN JAILED

A Utica man was jailed on 11-30-06 following an incident, which occurred at Sangertown Square Mall in the Town of New Hartford.

Joseph A. Camelo, age 21 of Kossuth Avenue in the City of Utica was arrested after Patrolman J. M. Spinella of the New Hartford Police Department was called to Sangertown Square Mall for an individual attempting to pass fraudulent $500.00 American Express Gift Checks. Upon patrols arrival Camelo was said to have attempted to pass the fraudulent American Express Gift Checks at several businesses in the Sangertown Square Mall.

Joseph A. Camelo was charged with six counts of Criminal Possession of a Forged Instrument in the Second Degree, which are Class D felonies. Camelo was also charged with two counts of Attempted Petit Larceny, which are B Misdemeanors. He was arraigned before Town Justice VanSlyke who committed him to Oneida County Jail in lieu of $1000 bail.

Camelo is scheduled to return to New Hartford Town Court at a later date for further court proceedings.
