Waterville woman injured following two car accident

A Waterville woman was sent to St. Luke’s Hospital with a neck injury following a two vehicle motor vehicle accident on Rt. 5.

According to Officer Christopher J. Burns, Patricia Cowburn, age 55, of Waterville was traveling eastbound on Rt.5 near Paulevan Pl. when her vehicle was struck in the rear by a vehicle driven by 18 year old Daniel J. Seif of Utica.  Seif was also eastbound on Rt. 5 when the collision occurred.  Seif stated he was looking at a second police incident going on across the street and did not see that the vehicle in front of him had slowed.  Cowburn complained of neck and head pain and was transported to a local hospital for treatment.

Seif was issued a traffic ticket for following too closely and is to appear in the Town of New Hartford Court at a later date.

The New Hartford Fire Department and Edward’s Ambulance assisted at the scene.
