Two Injured Following Rt. 5 Accident

On December 15, 2006 the New Hartford Police responded to a two-car motor vehicle accident on Rt. 5 that left two people injured.  According to Patrolman Jarod Petrie, Andrea Olney, 22, of Westernville was driving north on St. Rt. 5 when Ruth Saunders, 76, of West Winfield attempted to make a left turn into Sangertown Square Mall in front of her.  Olney’s vehicle struck Saunders vehicle in the passenger side causing extensive damage to both vehicles.

Olney was transported to Rome Hospital with a complaint of neck pain, while Saunders was transported to St. Lukes Hospital with complaints of chest pain.  Saunders was issued a summons for failure to yield right away which is returnable to the Town of New Hartford court.  New Hartford Police were assisted on the scene by the New Hartford Fire Department, Edward’s Ambulance, and Central Oneida County Ambulance.
