Two Injured in New Hartford Accident

The New Hartford Police Department investigated a two-car motor vehicle accident on Middle Settlement Rd. Tuesday afternoon that sent two local residents to the hospital.  The accident occurred around 5:45 pm.  According to Patrolman J.D. Gehringer, the accident occurred when a vehicle driven by Thomas Weiler, age 81, of Clark Mills struck the rear of a vehicle driven by Lisa Griffin, age 33, of Sauquoit.  Griffin was stopped in the roadway preparing to turn left into the driveway of the Hope Alliance Church.  Weiler complained of chest pain and was taken to St. Elizabeth’s Hospital for an evaluation.  Griffin complained of back pain and was also taken to St. Elizabeth’s for an evaluation.  Weiler was issued a summons for Following Too Closely and is scheduled to answer the charge in New Hartford town court next month.  The police department was assisted at the scene by the New Hartford Fire Department and Edward’s Ambulance.
