Part Time Public Safety Telecommunicator

Are you interested in an exciting career in Public Service? Experienced in Emergency Services? The Town's Central Dispatch Center may be the place for you.

Central Dispatch is the consolidated call-taking center for all town services. Within the town there are 2 full-time police agencies and 3 volunteer fire agencies. We are also the answering point for the Animal Control Officer. Last year the center handled over 60,000 phone calls resulting in over 22,000 seperate incidents. Besides the 5 Emergency Service agencies, Dispatch also handles after-hours calls for other town and village services (Highway, Codes, Sewer, etc.).

Staffed 24/7, dispatchers maintain the vital link between the general public and the service agencies of the community. Part-time dispatchers primarily work weekends, nights and holidays. (Average 20 hours per week) They must be Civil Service approved and pass a background investigation. Benefits include flexible hours, access to affordable health care, time and a half for major holidays and shift differential. The current starting wage is $10.66/hr and increases to $11.61/hr after your first year.

Completed applications can be mailed to the Personnel Office at 48 Genesee St., New Hartford, N.Y. 13413.
