UTICA WOMAN ARRESTED FOR CHILD ENDANGERMENT

On January 9th at about 4:00 pm, the New Hartford Police responded to the Sangertown Mall for two children that had been left unattended for an extended period of time. Patrolman W.J. Freiberger met with Sangertown Security officers upon arrival and it was learned that a seven-year-old female and a two-year-old male had been left unattended for approximately an hour in the J.C. Penney wing of the mall.

The investigation revealed that the children’s mother, Mai N. Ngocphoung, age 33 of Utica, had left the children unattended within the mall while she went shopping at numerous stores. Ngocphoung was located and subsequently charged with two counts of Endangering the Welfare of a Child, a Class A. Misdemeanor. Ngocphoung was released with an appearance ticket returnable to the Town of New Hartford Court on a later date.
