New Hartford Bus involved in Early Morning Accident
At approx. 8:30am, the New Hartford Police Department responded to the scene of motor vehicle accident on Kellogg Road, involving a New Hartford Central School District Bus. The bus, operated by David White, 52 of New Hartford, was stopped on Kellogg Road at a railroad crossing at the State Route 8 exit ramp.
While stopped the bus was struck in the rear end by a Toyota Camry driven by David McDonald, 19 of New Hartford. McDonald was traveling behind the bus and was attempting to stop when his vehicle slid on the pavement and struck the rear of the bus.
Neither operator was injured nor there were no student passengers on the bus at the time of the collision. McDonald’s vehicle sustained significant front-end damage due to the collision. McDonald was ticketed for following too closely.
