Durhamville Man arrested for possession of stolen property

On January 10, 2010 at approx. 4:30pm, the New Hartford Police Department responded to the Play it Again Sports store on Commercial Drive after an employee reported that someone was attempting to sell a stolen snowboard.  Store employees were originally made aware of the stolen snowboard when the teenaged owner called them to ask that they be alert for the snowboard after it was stolen earlier today from The Woods Valley Ski Resort in Westernvile, N.Y.

While in Play it Again Sports, 22 year old Joseph Parker of Durhmville, N.Y. was told that the snowboard was stolen, and that the store would not purchase it.  Parker then left the store on foot and left the snowboard behind at the store.   Police were provided with a description of Parker and Parker was located on foot at The Sangertown Mall by a New Hartford Police Officer, checking the area for him.

An investigation by the New Hartford Police and the New York State Police revealed that Parker was responsible for the theft of the snowboard from Woods Valley and also the same person who attempted to sell the snowboard at Play it Again Sports on Commercial Drive, New Hartford.

The snowboard is valued at $600.00.  Parker was arrested and charged with Criminal Possession of stolen property in the fifth degree, which is a Misdemeanor.  Parker was released on an appearance ticket and will answer the charge in The Town of New Hartford Court during February.
