2 INJURED IN ROLLOVER ACCIDENT

On 01/18/09 at 8:30 AM the New Hartford Police Department investigated a 1-vehicle rollover on State Route 12 just north of Brimfield Street.  According to Patrolman Matthew Sica, Alexander T. Cheatman 37, of West Hempstead NY, was operating a rental van owned by Western Leasing Inc. of Brooklyn NY, south on Route 12 when he lost control.  The van entered the northbound lane and then struck a ditch causing it to roll over onto its roof.  The operator and his two passengers were able to exit the vehicle on their own.

Passengers Tyrease Johnson, 35 and Atiya Cheatham, 18, both of West Hempstead were treated at the scene for minor injuries by the New Hartford Fire Department and transported to St. Elizabeth’s Hospital by Kunkel Ambulance for treatment.

No tickets were issued in the incident.  The Town of Kirkland Police assisted the New Hartford Police at the scene.  Traffic on Route 12 was slowed for about an hour and a half while crews removed the vehicle.
