New Hartford Accident leaves two women injured, one arrested for DWI

On February 11th, 2009 at 7:00pm The New Hartford Police Department responded to a personal injury motor vehicle accident on State Route 12 at the intersection with Genesee Street.

An investigation into this accident revealed that a vehicle driven by Lynne A. Potoczny, 49, of New Hartford was operating northbound on State Route 12 and upon approaching the intersection with Genesee Street veered out of the northbound lane of Route 12, across the Genesee Street intersection and into the westbound lane of Genesee Street at which time it collided with a vehicle driven by 22 year old Erin Madigan of Syracuse, N.Y., which was stopped at a red light on Genesee Street.  Potoczny’s vehicle then continued on and collided with a snow bank on Genesee Street.

After colliding with the snow bank Potocyny’s vehicle bounced off of the snow bank and traveled eastbound across the westbound lane of Genesee Street finally coming to rest upon a second snow bank on Genesee Street.  Both vehicles were heavily damaged; The New Hartford Fire Department and EMT’s treated Potoczny and Madigan at the scene from Edwards Ambulance.  Both were then transported to Faxton St. Luke’s Hospital / St. Luke’s Campus for further treatment of leg injuries.
