Father and Daughter Arrested After Larceny
New Hartford Police were called to WalMart at Consumer Square on Commercial Drive Friday afternoon at 3:05 p.m. after store employees observed a man shoplifting.
WalMart employees reported to police that Salim Selimovic, age 53, of Mulberry Street in Utica was seen stealing fishing supplies. He was taken into police custody and charged with one misdemeanor count of petit larceny. His 24 year-old daughter, Zejfa Selimovic, also of Mulberry Street in Utica, began shouting obscenities at store employees and police in the presence of several WalMart patrons. When told to stop she refused. When told she was being charged with disorderly conduct she tried to run away from arresting officers. She was quickly stopped by police and taken into custody following a brief struggle. She was additionally charged with a misdemeanor count of resisting arrest.
Both were processed relative to the charges filed against them and issued appearance tickets. Both father and daughter have been scheduled to answer the charges together in New Hartford Court on March 25th at 1:00 p.m.
