Charges Filed Following Domestic Dispute

A Domestic Dispute that occurred between a husband and wife has resulted in charges being filed against a 21-year-old New Hartford woman.

On Wednesday afternoon, New Hartford Police were called to 3566 Oneida Street to investigate an arguement involving Shaquanda M. Spann and her husband, James Spann. Investigating officers discovered that there was an active arrest warrant for the female Spann that had been issued by Utica City Court. Spann was taken into custody on that warrant and placed in a patrol car. Spann became irate and kicked the rear window of the patrol car several times trying to break it. When officers approached her and ordered her to stop, she spit and kicked at them several times.

Spann was turned over to members of the Utica Police Department who arraigned her in Utica City Court relative to the warrant. Spann was committed to Oneida County Jail in lieu of an unknown amount of bail following the arraignment.

On Thursday morning, New Hartford Police concluded the investigation into the domestic dispute that had been reported Wednesday. As a result, Spann was charged with one midemeanor count of attempted criminal mischief and one count of harrassment, a violation. Spann was arraigned in New Hartford Town Court before Justice James VanSlyke on the two charges. She was returned to Oneida County Jail under the bail previously set by Utica City Court.

Additional court action on all these matters will occur in the future.
