SAUQUOIT MAN CHARGED WITH BURGLARY AND GRAND LARCENY

The New Hartford Police Department arrested a 42 year old Sauquoit man after a six-month investigation into the burglary of the Dunkin Donuts store located on Kellogg Road, Washington Mills.

Investigator Steve Laymon arrested Gregory Drennen, Leisure Place, and charged him with one count of Burglary 3rd and Grand Larceny 3rd, both felonies.  Drennen is alleged to have broken into the restaurant in September 2008 and removed over $4,600.00 from the safe.

Drennen was arrested by members of the U.S. Marshals New York/New Jersey Regional Fugitive Task Force that consists of members from the Utica Marshals Office, New Hartford Police, Utica Police, Oneida County Sheriffs Office and N.Y.S. Parole and Probation Departments.  He was arrested after a brief foot chase in the Cold Brook area of Herkimer County.

Drennen was arraigned in the Town of New Hartford Criminal Court before Judge James VanSlyke and committed to the Oneida County Jail on no bail.  Drennen’s next appearance in court is on 3/9/09 for a felony exam.
