NEW HARTFORD MAN CHARGED WITH GRAND LARCENY AND ATTEMPTED FORGERY

The New Hartford Police Department arrested a 25 year old New Hartford man after an investigation and charged him with Grand Larceny 4th, a felony, Attempted Forgery 2nd, a felony and Attempted Grand Larceny 4th, a misdemeanor

Patrolman J. M. Spinella, of the New Hartford Police Department stated that Angel C. Lopez was located and arrested while he was hiding in a wooded area off of Elm Street in the Town of New Hartford. Lopez was located by the New Hartford Police Department with the assistance of the New York State Parole Division.  An investigation revealed that Lopez attempted to use a debit card that he stole from someone at the Slocum Dickson Sleep Lab located on French Road in the Town of New Hartford.  The card was stolen while Lopez was a patient at the facility.  Lopez attempted to obtain money from an ATM and also attempted to steal over $1,000.00 in cash from a Western Union Transaction using the stolen debit card.

Lopez was arraigned in New York Mills Court and committed to Oneida County Jail on $5,000 Bail.  Lopez is due back in New Hartford Court on 03-24-09.
