New Hartford Investigate Two-Car Crash on Oneida Street
At approx. 3:00pm, the New Hartford Police Department along with the Willowvale Fire Company responded to a two-car collision on Oneida Street near Elm Street in Chadwicks. An investigation into the collision revealed that a vehicle, driven northbound on Oneida Street by Amada Banas of New Hartford, slowed to allow for a vehicle in front of her to turn into a driveway along Oneida Street. While slowing down, Banas’s vehicle was struck from behind by a northbound pick up truck operated by Barry Wardell of Cassville, N.Y.
Banas was treated at the scene by EMTs from The Willowvale Fire Company, and Edwards Ambulance Service then transported by Ambulance to Faxton / St. Luke's Hospital, St. Luke's Campus after complaining of head pain. Wardell was not injured in the collision. Wardell was ticketed for following too closely, and aggravated unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle as Wardell was found to be operating with a suspended drivers license due to an unpaid traffic ticket. Banas was ticketed for operating without a driver license, as she was operating with a learners permit, without appropriate supervision.
