At approx. 9:46 am on April 14th, 2010, the New Hartford Police Department responded to a car/bus collision on State Route 5 near Lexington Boulevard. An investigation into the collision revealed that a vehicle driven westbound on State Route 5 by Trista Duffy-Testa, 37 years of age, of Utica failed to realize traffic in front of her was stopped due to construction work ahead and collided into the rear of an Oneida County ARC bus which had ten passengers.

Central Oneida County Volunteer Ambulance was called to the scene to evaluate Testa’s two year old daughter who was a passenger inside the vehicle positioned in the rear passenger side back seat who suffered small abrasion to the shoulder. The two-year-old passenger was secured in the vehicle with a properly installed child safety seat, which prevented her from receiving any further injuries. A passenger of the ARC bus, Cindy Flubacher, was transported to St. Lukes Hospital for evaluation of neck pain and the 2 year old was released back to her mother at the scene. Trista Duffy-Testa was issued a traffic summons for following to closely, a violation, for causing the crash and is scheduled to return to the Town of New Hartford Court to answer the summons on May 25th 2010 at 1:00 pm.
