Two Injured Following Three-Car Crash

The New Hartford Police Department responded to Seneca Turnpike near the intersection of Woods Highway for a three-car motor vehicle crash that sent two people to the Hospital, shortly after 6:30pm.

According to New Hartford Police Officer Andrew Allen, Pasquale Marafioti, 59, of Clinton was operating his vehicle west on Seneca Turnpike.  He began slowing his vehicle for traffic ahead of him when he was struck in the rear by a vehicle being operated by Mary S. Belfield, 50, of Oriskany Falls.  Belfield was also traveling west behind Marafioti's vehicle.   The force of the collision caused Marafioti's vehicle to strike a vehicle ahead of him, which was being operated by Diane P. Clute, 31, of Verona.  Marafioti was transported to a local Hospital with a laceration to his left eye, and complaints of pain to his leg, while Belfield was transported with complaints of head and neck pain.  Clute was uninjured in the crash.

Belfield was issued a traffic summons for Following Too Closely and is to appear in the Town of New Hartford Court at a later date.  The New Hartford Police Department was assisted by New Hartford Fire, Edward's Ambulance and Central Oneida County Volunteer Ambulance Corps.
