Car/Bicycle Accident at French and Burrstone
New Hartford Police are investigating a Car – Bicycle Accident that occurred at French Rd. and Burrstone Road at around 12:10 pm. Officers state that a 14-year-old Utica boy was riding a bicycle northbound on French Road and entered the crosswalk at Burrstone Road when he was struck by an eastbound car driven by Dana S.J. Coleby, age 19, of Kossuth Avenue in Utica. The impact knocked the youth off the bicycle and into the street. The cause of the accident remains under investigation.
The youth was treated at the scene by a passerby then by New York Mills Firefighters. He was then transported to St. Elizabeth’s Hospital in Utica for treatment of non-life threatening head injuries.
Utica Police and the Oneida County Sheriff’s Department assisted at the scene with traffic. New Hartford Police are asking that anyone who witnessed the accident to call 315-724-7111. Patrolman Michael Reilly and Sgt. Michael Inserra are investigating the accident. Contact Sgt. Inserra with any questions at 724-7111.
