TWO JAILED ON THEFT AND DRUG CHARGES

A Whitesboro woman and a Utica man were sent to jail Sunday afternoon after they were caught stealing merchandise from Kohl’s Department Store in New Hartford. The woman was also found to possess heroin.

New Hartford Police were called to the store at about 4:45 pm Sunday after store employees observed the two stealing six bottles of cologne valued at about $400. Arrested and charged with petit larceny was Karen M. Pepper, age 37 of Main Street Whitesboro and Aaron P. Snyder, age 32 of Chestnut Street, Utica. While being processed for the theft charge, Pepper was found to possess a small bag of heroin and a hypodermic syringe. Additional charges of Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance in the Seventh Degree and Criminal Possession of a Hypodermic Instrument were filed against Pepper. 

Both Snyder and Pepper were arraigned in New Hartford Court before Town Justice James VanSlyke. Snyder was committed to Oneida County Jail in lieu of $500 bail. Pepper was committed to Oneida County Jail in lieu of $750 bail. Both will reappear in court at a later date for further court action.
