Sauquoit Man Facing Charges after Pointing Loaded Gun at Crowd

A 40 year-old Sauquoit man was arrested on Saturday evening around 10:00pm after displaying and pointing a weapon at a group of patrons at the Willowvale Hotel/Bar in New Hartford.

The incident occurred at approximately 9:25pm.  After an altercation with several patrons of the bar, Terrence M. Martin went to his brother-in-law’s vehicle and retrieved a loaded .357 Colt Magnum Python revolver and walked back to the parking lot of the bar and pointed it at the group of patrons who were standing on the front porch area.  After the patrons scattered Martin got back into the passenger side of a vehicle and was driven away by his brother in law. Shortly thereafter Martin was located with the assistance of the Oneida County Sheriff’s and the New York State Police at Martin’s brother-in-law’s residence on Paris Hill Road.  The revolver was located at the residence and it was determined that Martin has no pistol permit and possessed the weapon illegally.

Martin was transported back to the New Hartford Police Department where he was charged with 2 felony counts of Criminal Possession of a Weapon, 6 misdemeanor counts of Reckless Endangerment, and 4 counts of misdemeanor Menacing.  Martin was arraigned in front of Judge VanSlyke and remanded to Oneida County Jail on bail and is scheduled to return on a later date.
