Utica Man Injured in Motor Vehicle Crash

The New Hartford Police Department investigated a motor vehicle accident Friday afternoon that injured a Utica man.  The accident occurred on Commercial Dr at the intersection with Price Chopper and Sangertown Mall. 

According to Officer J.D. Gehringer, the accident occurred around 12:05 pm, when a vehicle being operated by Jessica E. Ford, age 17, of Marcy was eastbound on Commercial Dr, and failed to stop for the red light at the intersection of Commercial Dr and the Sangertown Mall exit ramp.  Ford’s vehicle struck another vehicle operated by Eric J. Quackenbush, age, 23, of Utica, which was making a left hand turn out of the mall.  Quackenbush suffered a head injury from striking the door of the vehicle with his head and was taken to St Elizabeths Hospital in Utica for an evaluation.  Ford was not injured in the crash.  Both parties were wearing their seatbelts.  The New Hartford Fire Department and Edwards Ambulance assisted at the scene.  Ford was issued a ticket for passing a red light.
