4 Search Warrants Lead to 9 Arrested on Drug Charges

On June 25, 2007 the Oneida County Drug Task Force, along with the New Hartford Police Department, concluded an investigation into the possession, sale and distribution of Marihuana in the town of New Hartford with the execution of four search warrants.

With the New Hartford and Utica Police Department’s Emergency Response Team, along with the New Hartford Police Department Patrol Division, the Task Force executed search warrants at 3454 Oneida St., 3428 Oneida St., 3626 Oxford Rd., and 9365 Elm St., all in the hamlet of Chadwicks, Town of New Hartford.

As a result of the search of the above locations the following items were located and seized; over $17,000 in cash, over 2 pounds of marihuana, a quantity of Methamphetamine, a quantity of Cocaine, several Hydrocodone pills, scales and packaging materials.

The following individuals were arrested and charged as follows;

• Stephen Omes, 29, Unlawful Possession of Marihuana – Violation
• Keith Cronin Sr., 52, Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance 7th degree, and Criminal Possession of Marihuana 4th degree – both Class A Misdemeanors.
• Diane Cronin, 60, Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance 7th degree, and Criminal Possession of Marihuana 4th degree – both Class A Misdemeanors.
• Keith Cronin Jr., 22, Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance 7th degree - a Class A Misdemeanor.
• Kevin Cronin, 20, Criminal Possession of a Marihuana 4th degree - a Class A Misdemeanor.
• Gregory Rocker, 22, Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance 7th degree – a Class A Misdemeanor, Criminal Possession of Marihuana 2nd  degree – a Class D Felony, and Criminally Using Drug Paraphernalia 2nd degree – a Class A Misdemeanor.

• Calista Spina, 22, Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance 7th degree – a Class A Misdemeanor, Criminal Possession of Marihuana 2nd  degree – a Class D Felony, and Criminally Using Drug Paraphernalia 2nd degree – a Class A Misdemeanor.
• Edward Szczygiel, 30, 4 counts of Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance 7th degree – Class A Misdemeanors, Unlawful Possession of Marihuana – Violation, and Criminally Using Drug Paraphernalia 2nd degree – a Class A Misdemeanor.
• Deanna Backman, 23, 4 counts of Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance 7th degree – Class A Misdemeanors, Unlawful Possession of Marihuana – Violation, and Criminally Using Drug Paraphernalia 2nd degree – a Class A Misdemeanor.
