TEEN INJURED IN ACCIDENT    

On July 2nd, 2009 at about 5:00 PM the New Hartford Police investigated a 1-car minor personal injury accident on Oxford Rd.  According to Police, Thomas Nitti, 17 of Frankfort was traveling south bound on Oxford Rd. when it appears that he suffered an apparent medical problem.  Nitti’s vehicle, a 2004 Chevrolet Impala crossed the northbound lane of Oxford Rd and sheered a guide wire for a utility pole.  The vehicle continued across the front lawn of an Oxford Rd. residence and struck a large tree.  The vehicle then spun around and entered an approximately 5-foot deep ditch containing a creek.  Nitti was able to exit the vehicle with assistance of bystanders.  Nitti complained of minor shoulder and leg pain and was treated at the scene by members of the New Hartford Fire Department and transported to St. Elizabeth’s hospital by Edwards Ambulance.  The vehicle sustained extensive damage and the Police believe that the use of a seatbelt and airbag deployment assisted in avoiding serious injury.

The accident is still under investigation and no tickets have been issued.
