Two inured in Commercial Dr. Motor Vehicle Accident

On July 8th, 2009 The New Hartford Police Dept. responded to a Two Car Collision on Commercial Dr. in front of the Consumer Square Entrance at Panera Bread.  An investigation into this collision by Police found that a Vehicle operated by Laverne Walker, 72, of Rome, N.Y. was turning left out of the eastbound lane of Commercial Dr. into the Entrance of Consumer Square by Panera Bread.

 While turning left, Walkers vehicle collided with a SUV traveling westbound on Commercial Dr., which was being operated by William Holicky of New Hartford, N.Y. Walker was treated at the scene by The New York Mills Fire Dept. for a laceration to her hand and was then transported to St. Elizabeths Hospital by Edwards Ambulance.  Walker’s passenger, her husband William Walker, 70, sustained a laceration to his head and additional internal injuries.  He was also treated at the scene and then transported by Ambulance to St. Elizabeths Hospital.   Holicky was not injured. 

Both vehicles sustained heavy damage. The collision forced Police to close one of the westbound lanes of Commercial Dr. for approx. 40 minutes while debris was cleared from the roadway and while tows  removed the vehicles which were blocking the lane.

Walker was issued a ticket for failing to yeild the right of way while making a left turn.
