Utica Woman Injured Following Two-Car Crash

On July 17, 2009 the New Hartford Police Department responded to the intersection of Route 5 and Genesee Street for a two-car crash that left one woman injured shortly before 930pm.

According to Patrolman Andrew Allen, Lacie O. Jackson of Utica was turning her vehicle left from Route 5 westbound to Genesee Street when she was struck by a vehicle being operated by Cassandra R. Kenyon of Cassville.  Kenyon was operating her vehicle east on Route 5 and passed a red light located at the intersection of Route 5 and Genesee Street Kenyon’s vehicle struck Jackson’s vehicle in the middle portion of the passenger side.  The force of the collision caused both vehicles’ airbag systems to deploy.  Jackson was transported to St. Elizabeth’s Hospital with complaints of shoulder and hip pain.  Her passenger, 14 month old Shynita D. Ferguson of Utica was also transported for evaluation.  Kenyon, as well as her passengers, Robert A. Douglas, Erica S. Kenyon and Marcy K. Lohnas were uninjured.  Kenyon was issued a summons for Passing a Red Light and will appear in the Town of New Hartford Court at a later date.  The New Hartford Police Department was assisted on the scene by the New Hartford Fire Department and Edward’s Ambulance.
