Utica Man Jailed after Sneaker Theft
A 42 year-old Utica man has been jailed after a shoplifting incident at the J.C. Penney store located within Sangertown mall.
On July 24, 2010 at about 9:09 pm the New Hartford Police responded to the parking lot of J.C. Penney for a reported fight in progress. Upon arrival patrol units discovered that loss prevention officers from the J.C. Penney store were fighting with Dwain Mccoy, who is accused of leaving the store without paying for a pair of Nike sneakers. The fight ensued when Mccoy attempted to avoid apprehension. Both loss prevention officers were pushed and one of them was punched several times as a result of the altercation, but neither sustained any injuries. Mccoy was charged with Petit Larceny ,Criminal Possession of a Hypodermic Instrument and two counts of Harassment in the 2nd degree. Mccoy was arraigned before Judge Vanslyke and remanded to the Oneida County Jail in lieu of $250.00 bail.
