1 Car Rollover leads to DWI Arrest

On Wednesday July 29th 2009 at around 7:40 am the New Hartford Police Department investigated a one-car property damage roll over accident on Snowden Hill Road. Through investigation, the operator of the vehicle was identified at Michael Scranton 19, from New Hartford.  Scranton stated that he had lost control of his vehicle while traveling east on Snowden Hill Road resulting in the vehicle traveling off the southbound shoulder of the roadway and striking a ditch causing the vehicle to roll over.  Scranton was secured inside the vehicle with a safety belt and was not injured in the crash.  Further investigation into the incident showed that Scranton had been consuming alcohol prior to the crash during the early morning hours. 

After performing numerous field sobriety tests at the accident scene Scranton was placed into custody for Driving While Intoxicated.  Scranton was then transported to the New Hartford Police Department where he was processed and released on traffic tickets returnable to the Town Of New Hartford Court on August 8th 2009 at 1:00 pm.   Along with being charged with Driving While Intoxicated an unclassified misdemeanor, Scranton was also charged with Failing to Keep Right, and Speed not Reasonable. Both violations.
