Two Sent to Hospital by Accident on Higby Rd

On August 1, 2009 at about 10:08 am, the New Hartford Police responded to a two-car personal injury motor vehicle accident on Higby Road.

Patrolman Jason Freiberger states that, Amanda Knapp, age 17 of Deansboro, was northbound on Higby Road and struck the vehicle in front of her that was occupied by the driver, Joseph M Piazza, age 16 of New Hartford. Piazza states he was stopped in traffic attempting to make a left turn.  The collision caused airbag deployment in Knapp’s vehicle and both vehicles sustained extensive damage.

Piazza and his passenger, Denise Usmail_Piazza, age 48, were both treated for neck injuries on the scene and then transported to St. Luke’s Hospital by Edwards Ambulance. Knapp’s passenger Heather Siedsma, 21 years of age, complained of leg pain and was treated at the scene. Knapp was ticketed for following to closely and will answer to the charges at a later date.
