Utica Man Charged with DWI, and Additional Charges Are Pending

The New Hartford Police Department arrested a 23-year-old Utica man for DWI early Saturday Morning after a fight behind the Cavallo’s restaurant in New Hartford.

According to Patrolman Peter Colburn, Valentin Gonzalez, age 23, of Herkimer Rd. was charged with misdemeanor Driving While Intoxicated, and Reckless Driving, and a violation for failure to use due care for a pedestrian.

Gonzalez was involved in a fight in the parking lot behind Cavallo’s when he left the chaotic scene in a vehicle, driving recklessly through a group of people who were gathered behind the restaurant.  Gonzalez was later apprehended and charged with DWI and other traffic violations.

Officer Colburn said that The New Hartford Police Department is investigating the incident and further charges are pending.

Gonzalez will appear in the Village of New Hartford Court in early October.
