JOY RIDE ENDS IN COLLISION WITH NEW HARTFORD CHURCH
New Hartford Police charged two male juveniles with unauthorized use of a motor vehicle and reckless endangerment early this morning after the vehicle they were operating collided with the Clinton Road Baptist Church. At approximately 1:35am today New Hartford police officer Ronald Fontaine observed a vehicle on Genesee Street being operated in a suspicious manner. This vehicle was then observed on Merritt Place in New Hartford violating several sections of the vehicle and traffic law. Before Officer Fontaine could affect a traffic stop the vehicle collided with a telephone pole then a parked car at the Clinton Road Baptist Church. The vehicle then came to rest upon colliding with the front of the church. The juvenile male occupants then fled the vehicle and were subsequently located by police in a wooded area nearby.
The juveniles have been referred to Oneida County Probation for pending family court action on the above charges. Police declined to identify the juveniles due to their ages.
