2 Plead Guilty in New Hartford Burglary

Two men are scheduled to be sent to state prison after pleading guilty to burglarizing a New Hartford home back in May of this year according to New Hartford Police Chief Raymond Philo.

Delwright Dyman, 68, of New York Mills, has been the suspect of numerous burglaries dating back to the 1970’s. During his plea in Oneida County court, Dyman, along with his alleged accomplice, Marc Levesque, 58, of New Hampshire, each admitted to targeting a residence at 206 Stonegate Road, which was under police surveillance at the time of the May 24th break-in.

Dyman pleaded guilty to second-degree burglary and faces five years in prison when he is sentenced by Judge Barry M. Donalty on Oct. 19. Levesque pleaded guilty to second-degree burglary and third-degree grand larceny, and he faces up to five years in prison when he is sentenced Nov. 2.

More than $30,000 in money, jewelry, statues and other valuables were stolen in this burglary, Chief Philo said.

Levesque admitted to breaking into the Stonegate Road home after Dyman dropped him off. Although Dyman never physically entered the home during the burglary, he still shared responsibility as an accomplice by planning the break-in, prosecutors said.

“The best we were able to determine from our investigation is that Dyman was the brains of the operation who did all the planning and research of the locations they were going to target, and Levesque was there to do the grunt work,” Chief Philo said.

Levesque is from New Hampshire and Dyman once lived in Connecticut, but it still remains unclear how long the two men have been familiar with each other.

For the past two years, Dyman had been under investigation for similar burglaries ever since Saratoga Springs authorities became aware that Dyman might have been targeting homes in that area, prosecutors said. Those authorities then contacted local police in New Hartford. The New Hartford Police and the New York State Police Special Investigations Unit worked the investigation jointly for approximately two years, Philo stated.

“A number of high profile people’s names came up as potential targets,” Philo said. Dyman selected his targets by “digging up information in the public domain about people who were more well off and more worth their while to commit a burglary.”

Dyman has had a history of committing burglaries dating back to the 1960s and 1970s, which were believed to be financed by Utica-based organized crime associates Falcone, Anthony Falange and Angelo Conte, authorities have said.
