HOME HEALTH AIDE WORKER JAILED FOLLOWING THEFT  

A 38 year old Utica woman was jailed Friday after she was arrested for Grand Larceny.

According to Patrolman J. M. Spinella of the New Hartford Police Department states that Rachelle L. Simmons, age 38, of Utica is accused of stealing a gold diamond engagement ring while employed as a Home Health Aide at a residence in New Hartford.  Simmons while taking care of an elderly client went into a bedroom in the residence and took the diamond ring from a dresser drawer.  Simmons then finished her shift at the residence and left with the ring.

Simmons was charged with Grand Larceny in the 4th Degree, a E Felony, relative to the theft of the ring. Simmons was arraigned in New Hartford Court before Town Justice James VanSlyke who committed Simmons to Oneida County Jail on $500.00 Dollar bail. Further court proceedings will be held in Town Court at a later date.
