PETIT LARCENY ARRESTS OPENS UP BURGLARY INVESTIGATION

According to the New Hartford Police Department two arrests made for Petit Larceny out of the Macy’s store in the Sangertown Square Mall led to arrests for an unsolved burglary that occurred several weeks ago.

Officers Christopher Burns and Jason Freiberger responded to the Macy’s store in Sangertown Square at 6:00 PM and arrested two females for shoplifting.  The females, 16 year old Alissa DeCarr of Chadwicks and 18 year old Ashley Teneyuque of Utica were arrested for Petit Larceny and transported to the departments Sub Station in the mall.  While completing the paperwork for the larceny charges it was discovered by the arresting officers that there was a possible link between the two females and a church burglary in Chadwicks.  Further investigation revealed that DeCarr and Teneyuque had been arrested on or about September 24 for Criminal Possession of Stolen Property while in the state of New Jersey.  The stolen property that was possessed was a safe that had been reported stolen from the St. George’s Episcopal Church on Elm St. in Chadwicks.  The two females and an unknown male were apparently attempting to burn the stolen safe and its contents when the fire drew the attention of law enforcement officials in Edison, NJ.

DeCarr and Teneyuque were arrested for one count each of Petit Larceny, a Class A Misdemeanor, for the incident at Macy’s as well as one count each of Burglary in the Third Degree, a Class D Felony, for the Chadwicks church incident.   Both women were arraigned in the Town of New Hartford Court where DeCarr was released on her own recognizance and Teneyuque was remanded to the Oneida County Correctional Facility in lieu of $500.00 cash bail or $1,000.00 bond.  Both women will return to the Town of New Hartford Court at later date to answer all charges.

The investigation into the church burglary is on going and further charges may be brought against DeCarr and Teneyuque as well as a third party involved.
