DWI CHECK-POINT RESULTS IN 8 ARRESTS  

 

On Friday November 23 starting at 10:00 pm a joint sobriety checkpoint was conducted on Rt 5 in the area of the New Hartford / Utica line. The Utica Police and NY State Police conducted the checkpoint on westbound traffic and the New Hartford Police conducted the checkpoint on eastbound traffic. As a result of the eastbound checkpoint the New Hartford Police arrested six drivers for driving while intoxicated, one subject for unlawful possession of marihuana and a male was taken into custody on a bench warrant out of the Ilion PD. NHPD officers issued thirty traffic tickets and conducted twenty field sobriety tests.

The following individuals were arrested for DWI:

1 Phommathat Douangnaraj, age 46, of Stark St in Utica at 11:10 pm by Sgt Michael Inserra

2 Michiela A. Czajkowski, age 44, Lenox Ave in Utica at 12:48 am by Officer Matt Sica

3 Crystal M. Jasiewicz, age28, Gardner St in Whitesboro at 1:05 am by Sgt Michael Inserra

4 Kelley A. Kelly, age 23, of Morris Rd in Marcy at 1:20 am by Sgt Paul Colburn

5 Vadim G. Ogievich, age 20, of Court St in Utica at 2:12 am by Ptl. Mike Reilly

6 Michael R. Godfrey, age 36, of Oriskany Falls at 2:22am by Officer Mike Kowalski

All drivers were released after being processed and will appear in court at a later date. Mark J. Bostwick, age 22, was turned over to the Ilion Police on a bench warrant for petit larceny. Jason C. Piccione, age22, of Utica was issued an appearance ticket for unlawfully possession of marihuana.

Additional sobriety checkpoints and added roving DWI patrols will continue throughout the holiday season.
