Syracuse Man Arrested on Stalking Charges
New Hartford Police arrested a 22 year-old Syracuse man after a weeklong investigation into him stalking a 22-year old female New Hartford resident. Sgt. Paul Colburn arrested Michael J. Rotondo of 641 Park Ave at 7:15pm on Thursday night outside of the victim’s residence.
The investigation started when Rotondo started sending numerous text messages to the victim and he did threaten to harm her. On Wednesday, December 9, Rotondo came to the victim’s house but fled before the police arrived. On Thursday night the New Hartford Central Dispatch received a 911 call that Rotondo was again at the residence and was walking around the outside of the house. Rotondo was taken into custody and charged by Sgt Colburn with two counts of stalking in the third degree, one count of menacing in the second degree and two counts of trespassing. Rotundo was arraigned before Judge James Vanslyke who committed him to Oneida County Jail in lieu of $4,500 bail. The Judge issued an Order of Protection for the victim and her family and he also ordered Rotondo to surrender his firearms. He is to appear back in court on Thursday December 17 at 1:00pm.
