NEW HARTFORD MAN ARRESTED FOR GRAND LARCENY
The New Hartford Police Department arrested a 42-year-old New Hartford man on 12/18/07 and charged him with one count of fourth degree grand larceny, a class E felony, after he issued several checks to the Jay-K Lumber Company during the month of October 2007. Inv. Steve Laymon arrested Stephen J. Phillips, of 147 Oxford Road, after the investigation revealed that Phillips issued $1909.52 in checks that were drawn upon a closed account at a local bank. Phillips was arraigned in the Town of New Hartford Criminal Court before Judge James VanSlyke and committed to the Oneida County Correctional Facility in lieu of $1000 cash bail or bond. He is due back in court in February 2008. Anyone in possession of any checks issued by Phillips is asked to call Inv. Laymon at 733-6666.
