Dolgeville Woman injured in a three-car Accident on Route 5A

The New Hartford Police Department investigated a three-car motor vehicle accident that injured a Dolgeville woman Monday afternoon.

According to Patrolman J.D. Gehringer, the accident occurred on Commercial Dr. in the area of Bremers Liquors around 2:00 pm Monday afternoon.  A vehicle being operated by Vennie B. Coleman, age 24, of West St. Utica was westbound on Commercial Dr. when the vehicle he was operating, struck the rear of another vehicle, operated by Jason Burk, age 27, of Military Rd. in Dolgeville, which was stopped in traffic.  That caused a chain reaction, causing Burk’s vehicle to strike the rear of a third vehicle also stopped in traffic.  The third vehicle was operated by a William Henderson, age 37, of W. Dominick St. in Rome.  A passenger in Burk’s vehicle, Silvana Burk, age 28, also of Military Rd. Dolgeville, complained of a knee injury and was treated at the scene by EMS staff, but declined transport to a hospital.  The couple’s one and half year old son was not injured in the accident and was secured in a child safety seat.  None of the passengers in Coleman’s vehicle were injured.

Coleman was issued traffic tickets for following too closely, and aggravated unlicensed operation 2nd, after he was found to have several suspensions and revocations on his license.  New Hartford Police were assisted at the scene by Edwards Ambulance and the New Hartford Fire Department.
